The Writers' Place Poets

The Writers' Place Poets is a development programme for poets from the southeast of England with a desire to learn more about the craft and business of poetry.
Launched in 2017 and led by acclaimed poet Dean Atta, over the course of six monthly sessions (with virtual mentoring and regular homework), participants are guided to take the next steps in their poetry career, and encouraged to share skills and offer mutual support.
The Writers' Place Poets sessions for 2019 will take place at The Writers’ Place, 9-10 Jew Street, Brighton BN1 1UT on the following dates:
Thu 7 February 2019, 6pm - 8pm
Thu 7th March 2019, 6pm - 8pm
Thu 4th April 2019, 6pm - 8pm
Thu 2nd May 2019, 6pm - 8pm
Thu 6th June 2019, 6pm - 8pm
Thu 4th July 2019, 6pm - 8pm
Spaces are limited to 15 participants. Participants will be expected to commit to all six sessions, and regular homework in their own time.
How to apply
The cost to take part is £60 for the 6 monthly sessions.
To apply, please send us six poems of no more than 40 lines each, with a covering letter detailing your achievements to date and what next steps you would like to make in your career as a poet.

Bursaries available for those who cannot afford this. Email email@example.com if you wish to apply for a bursary.
Deadline for applications is Friday 4 January 2019. Successful applicants will be notified by email by Friday 25 January 2019.
