About Anna Jefferson
Anna is Deputy Director of New Writing South. She joined in 2009 as Creative Learning Manager. She's worked in the arts for over 10 years. Starting her career as an arts project officer in the public sector. Then working for South East Dance as their Press and PR Manager.
Anna has a theatre company, Broken Leg Theatre, www.brokenlegtheatre.org which she founded in 2008. She has written and directed two plays since it was established, both of which have received 4 and 5 star reviews, and the most recent, My Second Life, won an award for artistic excellence.
She writes a weekly blog, www.youcantakeherhomenow.blogspot.co.uk, about life since having Nancy last September. It’s an account of the not so widely publicised aspects of parenthood, which she wished someone had told her pre-baby. It was a finalist in the MAD blog awards in the best writer category.
Her short film script, 'Rudie Can't Fail' is currently being produced.
Anna's background is theatre and journalism, having been awarded a BA in Theatre and Visual Practice, then going on to study newspaper journalism, achieving a NCTJ back in 2001.
Anna is passionate about new writing. Both through her work at New Writing South, and as a writer herself.
