Membership is open to everyone involved in creative writing in the south, whether you're professional, emerging or aspiring. Our membership also extends to companies with a professional interest in new writing.

Support
Meetings with other writers and professionals. Many say that membership gives them the sense that they are part of a writer community.

Master classes, workshops and seminars from leading professional practitioners. (In recent yeras: Ken Campbell, Mark Ravenhill, David Eldridge and leading literary managers and agents)

Writing Together Courses and Projects
Want to move into Writing for Radio? Or transfer your story writing skills to playwrighting? Led by industry specialists and limited to small groups, these courses provide an inspirational forum and aim towards each writer having a new piece for the marketplace.

Professional Script Reading
Members benefit from a professional unbiased report on scripts written for stage, radio and television. This service enables writers to "test" the market and gain valuable feedback. What's more reports may lead to further development work with New Writing South.

New Writing South's Side Shows
Side Shows presents rehearsed readings of member's work at our Associate Venue The Nightingale Theatre in Brighton and elsewhere in the region.

Career Development
We work creatively with a range of partnership organisations, regionally and nationally, to develop new writing opportunities, encourage commissions and initiate projects such as our Writer in residence schemes.

Write and Live
Seminars and events helping writers with what they need to know about copyright, the law, managing their accounts and tax returns, promotion and marketing, networking etc

Knowledge
A free seasonal newsletter, and a weekly enews in addition to our website, keeps members in touch with what is happening in the region, across the country and beyond with regional, national and international writing opportunities.

Creative Learning
We encourage creative writers to pass on their skills to schools, the excluded and others for whom creative participation brings well being and a means of expression.

Benefits
Members can take advantage of hiring a meeting space at a very competative rate in the centre of Brighton. The room is next door to the New Writing South office and has Wi-Fi and tea/coffee making facilities.
