MUZIKANSKY
Muzikansky is a company based in Tunbridge Wells. They produce plays, make digital films, host bi-monthly “unscreen”, short film nights, and hold an annual short film fest in July.
Muzikansky is committed to giving a voice to the new, the marginalized and the excluded. The company specialises in 'off-beat' and unusual material and they work with experienced mainstream professionals alongside newly trained practitioners. Their resident performance space is The Forum which is predominately a music venue. Past original work has involved experiments with theatre form, video, space and music.
In 2004 the company produced a full length play; SEED by new writer Souad Faress (who is also an experienced actress) the play toured the South East before a four week run at the Finborough Theatre, London. Experienced professionals are invited to participate in their creative work with young people. Films created by The Muzikansky Girls’ Video and Drama Group have been runners-up at International Film Festivals and their 2006 film “2 Friends” was made with additional support from the BBC Blast Takes Over training scheme.
Artistic Director, Nicolette Kay, will read all scripts that are sent to them; however the company does not currently have any resources to offer playwrights an appraisal.
