Channel Theatre
The sister company to Chalkfoot Arts, Channel has been touring schools since 1983, performing to every academic age group. The company has offered programmes covering a wide range of PSHE subjects such as drug education, gambling addiction, child abuse, teenage pregnancy and domestic violence. It has also supported the teaching of Science, History, Maths, English and Drama at different Key Stages. The company tours Kent with support from Kent County Council and further afield with funding from government sources. Most recently the company has toured Bexley, Greenwich and Medway and visited Cornwall with a series of innovative community theatre in Health Education projects. Channel has built a reputation for dealing with a range of delicate subjects, particularly for younger audiences.
The company specialises in projects and training initiatives taking place in non-theatre venues such as open air locations, community halls in rural areas and heritage sites. It has staged many spectacular participatory projects for local people, including the highly acclaimed Romeo and Juliet at Canterbury Cathedral.
