with Shaun Levin
Want to get some writing
done but things getting
in the way? Do you have
a novel to finish, a story
to flesh out, or just want
to set aside a chunk of
time to write, write, write?
Writing marathons are a
way of getting the word
count up. Create new
pieces, or keep going with
what you’re working on.
Be open to surprises.
Writing marathons are
fun and intense, and are
guaranteed to get the ink
flowing.
You’ll do writing sprints,
focused writing to
prompts, and some
exercises with props.
No excuses, no breaks,
just an opportunity to write
for two hours, three days in a
row (no need to book on
all three sessions). The focus
will be on generating
writing rather than
feedback. The workshop
is devised to suit writers of
all levels and at all stages
of their writing projects.
Shaun Levin is the
author of A YEAR OF
TWO SUMMERS, SEVEN
SWEET THINGS, and
most recently ISAAC
ROSENBERG’S JOURNEY
TO ARRAS: A MEDITATION.
His stories appear in
anthologies as diverse
as MODERN SOUTH
AFRICAN STORIES,
BOYFRIENDS FROM HELL
and THE POETRY OF
MEN’S LIVES. Shaun has
taught creative writing at
several colleges in London,
and run workshops over
the past ten years in
venues as diverse as The
National Gallery, London
Zoo, Richmond Park,
a cemetery, and a
restaurant.
