Free Manuscript Assessment for authors on low incomes.
Call for July 2010 deadline.
Founded in 1996, The Literary Consultancy is recommended by Arts Council England and major publishing houses, and holds a strong track record of helping writers get into print. They offer one of the UK’s leading manuscript assessment services and provide expert, market-aware editorial advice to authors at all levels writing in English. NWS invite applications for these bursaries from authors looking for assessment on novels and/or short stories.
New Writing South is managing a small number of Literary Consultany/Arts Council bursaries. The bursaries offer free assessments for entire novels, collections of short stories and for the first 50/100 pages and a synopsis. The are solely available for authors on a low income in the south east region who would benefit from the TLC manuscript assessment service, but have difficulty meeting the cost.
To apply for a bursary:
Apply by email attaching your CV, a one page synopsis and a ten-page sample of the manuscript you would like to submit.
Also let us know how many double spaced pages the manuscript is, or for short stories, the number of words in each story.
The next deadline will be 31 July.
There will be a further call later in the year with a January deadline.
