Advice & Information Surgeries

(Authors and Playwrights)

New Writing South is pleased to be at this year's Oxfringe 2010 Festival offering individual advice and information surgeries. These surgeries are designed to answer your professional development questions including areas such as: your writing practice, finding time and space to write and overcoming blocks.

Each 50-minute surgery is aimed at guiding your career and professional development and will be with leading literary manager Sarah Dickinson (for playwrights) and publisher Adrian Weston at Raft (for authors.)

CV's and a short example of work (up to 10 pages, 12pt, double-spaced) must be sent in at least one week prior to your session.

Sarah Dickenson is a freelance dramaturg and project manager. From 2000-2009 she worked for the writers' organisation Writernet, where she worked on numerous projects aimed at supporting the professional development of performance writers and those who work with them, including, from 2005, The South West New Writing Network. She is currently literary manager for Theatre 503 in Battersea, and has worked for many companies on new writing projects and initiatives including: The Churchill Theatre Bromley, Bristol Old Vic, Soho Theatre, The Red Room, Exeter Northcott, The Hall for Cornwall, Tamasha, Playwrights' Studio Scotland and Ustinov Bath.

Adrian Weston runs the Raft literary agency based in Brighton, representing a list of 32 fiction and non-fiction authors. He grew up in Australia and trained as a classical musician before moving into arts journalism and then working in a wide range of roles within publishing companies.
