Secrets of SitCom
Write your own television SitCom
with
Jenny Lecoat
Want to write your own TV sitcom but don’t
know where to begin? Ever started one but got stuck halfway? Do you feel
you have the potential to “write funny” but can’t get
a handle on the format? Then this is the course for you.
More thorough and detailed than Jenny’s previous New Writing South
workshops, this course - run over five Saturdays, will take you through
the entire process of situation comedy, from initial concept to full first
draft. You will work on character building, story structure and dialogue,
studying successful shows and have the chance to see your work performed
by professional actors! Writing breaks between sessions give you the perfect
opportunity to develop your own project, so that by the end you will not
only have a good understanding of the format, but also a calling card script
of your own.
Jenny Lecoat is an ex stand-up comic, now a professional
comedy and drama writer, she has fifteen years experience in television.
Jenny has written for Birds of a Feather, The Catherine Tate Show, Eastenders
and Holby City to name but a few. In addition to the successful workshops
she has run for New Writing South, she has also taught at the Arvon Foundation
and London Film Academy.
