New Writing SouthPlay Pod
An exciting short showcase of tomorrow's playwrights.
In September 2009, New Writing South and Chichester Festival Theatre jointly set up a Young Playwrights’ Programme led by writer and NWS Creative Learning Team member Suhayla El Bushra.
Available to 16-25 year olds in the south east region, the aim was to offer the same opportunity as afforded by the Royal Court Young Writer's Programme in London. The six-month programme enabled the opportunity for young writers to work with a professional playwright to turn their ideas and passions into drama, and give vaulable experience of what it is like to work in the industry and meet with theatre professionals.
Play Pod presents half a dozen rehearsed ‘plays in progress’ by these talented writers. Directed by CFT's Festival Associate and Assistant Directors, and performed by Festival actors, it will be an exciting, short showcase of tomorrow's playwrights.
