Crime Salon

New Writing South introduces Crime Salon at The Vaults & Garden Café, Oxford on 8 April as part of the Oxfringe 2010 Festival.

Oxford, famous for being the home of Inspector Morse and the setting for the novel and subsequent film The Oxford Murders, will be the setting for an evening of debate, readings and extracts from successful crime writers Sue Walker and Lesley Thomson along with writer, filmmaker and producer Carole Hayman (Ladies of Letters).

The evening will take a sideways and fresh look at what is a long-standing and popular writing genre.

In her highly acclaimed installation film No One Escapes about women serial killers, those who work with them and whose lives are touched by them, Carole Hayman presents the faces and voices of those who struggle with the crimes they encounter - direct victims like Anne Marie West, police officers, lawyers, journalists and medical staff describe the hitherto untold devastating impact on them and their families.
