New Writing South and University of Sussex's creative writing course for teachers
The Centre for Community Engagement at the University of Sussex and New Writing South are looking to offer teaching staff with responsibility for teaching creative writing as a component of subjects studied at both GCSE and ‘A’ Level an opportunity to work with writers who teach creative writing professionally.
The courses are designed to help teachers identify and teach the skills required for successful creative composition and to apply the appropriate assessment criteria for marking creative work at different levels. Time will be spent considering ways of coming up with teaching ideas and styles of writing that will stimulate and engage the imagination. The approach will also help students to grasp the fundamentals of grammar through a more experiential and practice based approach to language. Finally, the sessions will explore how the different forms of creative writing can be put to work successfully in the classroom and across the wider curriculum.
We would like to offer schools and teachers the best possible package, and to help us we are asking you to complete this very short questionnaire, downloadable below and email back to Anna Jefferson. We look forward to hearing from you.
