Laughing your way to confident writing
Laughing Your Way to Confident Writing was a series of comedy writing workshops which were part of the Spring Forward Adult Learning Festival. The workshops, which were run by Josie Melia, gave beginners the opportunity to develop their writing skills and confidence in a fun and encouraging environment. Creative Learning Team member and comedy writer, Marian Kilpatrick, led two of the workshops, inspiring the participants to experiment with comedy writing. The final session was led by Jule Craig, who gave the writers a chance to get on their feet and experiment with performing in front of the group.
The course was designed to give participants the opportunity to improve and develop confidence in their writing and, at the same time, open up their creative ability.
Once participant said: 'I’ve really enjoyed the course and it has given me a good kick start.'
Following the workshops, all participants were given the opportunity to perform their work in front of an audience as part of the Spring Forward Festival.
Josie Melia said: 'The best thing about this project was the general enthusiasm of the group and their willingness to engage.'
