Our inaugural lecture delivered by one of Britain’s most influential and controversial playwrights, Mark Ravenhill, took place at the 2011 Brighton Festival on 21 May. In his thought-provoking talk, Mark spoke of the changing arts landscape in Britain over the past 30 years. With government cuts today threatening many libraries and arts projects, Mark’s speech gave particular emphasis as to how this might impact the chances for young people from more modest backgrounds to forge successful careers as actors or writers in today’s tough climate. If you missed this special event and would like to read the full transcript of the lecture, it is now available.
